I attended my 20th high school reunion and although I didn't drive my C3 (to Ohio) to the reunion, I did have my 2001. It was amazing how many people equated a Corvette with success. The vast majority had 2-n kids, employed and very happy but when it came to the C5, I was amazed at the nodding and thumbs up (and quite a few envious expressions). I had driven it to Ohio back in December when thinking about making a move there (and rough marriage situation that has since worked out). I drove it back to Fl on Sunday.
Needless to say, the C5 made a very good impression
Then my telling them that I had the C3 back in Florida really floored them! :D
All from a (once) geeky guy that cleaned the restrooms at school part-time and worked at the local grocery as a carry-out to earn enough bread to hop up his 71 Nova.
I'll probably hold off on pulling the body on mine until after my 20 year reunion; summer, 2004. Through gradeschool, juniorhigh and highscool, I loved Vettes so much, all my friends used to make fun of me having premature eja!!!!! whenever a Vette came into sight.
