Anybody out there using a non-stock speedo & tach? If so, got any pictures? I've already changed out the cluster gauges to all autometer gauges but was wondering what was done out in the community.
I like to use the autometer sport speedo & tach. The sport gauges are what I'm using in the cluster. But then what do I do about turn signals and the other 'built-in' indicators?
There are quite a few threads on gauge replacement. Just type in 'AutoMeter Gauges'. However, I have found difficulty finding threads that specifically address the missing indicator lights (turn signals, brake release, high beams). I've seen vette427-sbc's pic before and he addresses the indicator issue better than anyone else I've seen thus far, but I would love to see other people's solutions.
What year car? Heres how I did my 79 after taking some other forum members advice. You just need to then hardwire the bulbs for the signals. Willcox has the wiring diagrams on thier website. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...e-install.html
I don't know what year car you have. This is what I did with mine which is the later style interior/dash. Not a great shot buy you get the idea. I drilled some holes in the plexiglass backing just large enough for the factory brights indicator and blinkers. pulled the lens out of the factory and glued it to back of plexiglass. I used factory locations and just plugged in some leds in the factory location too.
Thanks for the replies and pictures. They all look good. Mine is a 69. I'm kinda leaning towards what vette427-sbc did. Just not sure if I'll do the same thing with the indicators or try to come up something else.
