Getting a fancy bling ultra high voltage ignition system will not assist performance in the least and is not money well spent.

If your distributor is stock, possibly having the advance curves modified would help a little. This might not be part of the kit you're looking at.

i beleive your car will benefit from a distributor tune up but mostly from taking it apart and cleaning and lubricating it. the adjustable vacuum cannister is not worth anything and a stock working unit will suit your need just fine. be sure to shim the distributor shaft if you need to and buy those shims when you order your parts

If I am replacing cap rotor coil module, I shouldnt need the shims should I?

No, just during a major overhaul.

the real benefit will come with taking the distributor apart and lubricating the advance shaft if it is sticking....check and see if this is sticking in any way if it is take it apart. if it moves freely then dont worry about taking it apart.

I just replaced advance springs and weights on my Mallory HEI. If the weights move freely does that mean the advance shaft is fine? If not, where is the advance shaft and how would I check?
