how do the rearend case yokes come out!! when i had the rearend rebuilt i never gave thought to maybe cleaning them(yokes that is). now that the rearend is done and all my other components are either clear ZINC-ed or just polished, they stick out like sore thumbs......rusty and grungy. any suggestions on how to remove them :confused:

You have to remove the rear differential itself. Once you have it removed from the car, on the inside is a c-clip that holds each yoke in place. The c-clip snaps around the yoke and keeps it from moving outward.
Inward movement is stopped by a cross pin in the differential unit.
A lot of work for just a little clean-up, but if you were to go in there to check on the c-clips and the ends of the yokes, then it would be time well spent.
The ends of the yokes move around and pound on the cross pin and it distorts or "mushrooms" the ends of the yokes. If left to continue sometimes the c-clips will come off also.
Note: once the ends are all mushroomed, pulling them out is difficult and you can not put them back in. They should be replaced at that point.
