UNCLE............ I need some help with my power windows. I have a '76 and the power windows do not work in either direction. I have a fully charged battery and even with the car running, they still do not work. I have check the wiring to make sure there is no breaks in them and they all ring out good. I have checked the fuse (30A rectangle, #2 down from left of fuse panel) and installed a new power window relay. When I install a jumper-wire, they work......... I am about to rewire the whole power window circuit because I am so p*ssed off........PLEASE HELP
new cheap switches ? , use a volt meter to verify switches work...
don't have one, use a light bulb for basic switch test.
I just checked the switches and they all are good. So, switches are good, wiring is good and fuses are good. I did find out that the rear defrost is not working. Is it possible that those two are linked somewhere???????
if you test the motor, and the switches, that leaves incoming power /fuse.
and the relay. to troublshoot start at the power source, veirify power on harness and follow all the way thru switches to the motor. if everything is wired properly.
only 1 thing left, Gnd to motors, do not assume they are grounded.
run a solid #10 GND. wire from each motor to verified Birdcage gnd.
common problem of poor gnd to window motors.
