Update - the engine builder offered me $700.00 for the engine below. Quick and easy cash - I can reuse the stand and crate he is shipping my new engine to me in. Take the money? Hold out for more? I don't really want to part it out. Any opinions?
I have a 1973 454 engine with spun bearings on the camshaft. Not sure if there is any other internal damage to the cylinders.
Engine # TO316TRK, Block # 3999289, Head # 353049, Manifold # 3947801
700 for the whole lot is given it away cheap, as I said that intake alone can go for 200 bucks, the 049 heads are excellent stock heads one of the better large oval port I don't know there value but at least 300 bucks if not quite a bit more, so then your only getting 200 for the block. I'd go for more money myself or part it out. Just my 2 cents.
LS-4 Not sure what condition the block is in. He is buying it sight unseen. How much more would I get for the block if I parted it out? $100-$200? Don't know if its worth the hassle.
Clink69 No, its not the original engine for the car. If it was I would have had it rebuilt. I wish it was.
Those numbers look like the orgional #'s for a 73. $700 for a 454 is dirt cheap. Agree with the other posts on costs. The heads are worth 250-300, the intake 150-200, the block 300-500, the crank and on and on. Please look at the pricing guides for 73's BB cars vs SB cars. The spread can be up to $5k added for BB with the org. motor. Unless you seriously strapped for $$$ rebuilt it.
