Does anyone have a list of the old Chevy dealer and zone numbers? I'm trying to track down where my '71 was originally delivered, and only have these two numbers - 49 and 159 - no name or city/state. Any help is appreciated!

Zone 49 used to be the Harrisburg, PA zone... I'm pretty sure that the area covered by this zone ran to the north and south borders of Pennsylvania and was bordered on the west (about mid state) by Zone 13 which was the Pittsburgh, PA zone.
There is nothing currently showing in the NCRS records with regard to dealer number 159 in that zone. You may want visit Triple A Enterprises' website and put in your request there... I know that a few people have had some luck getting information from their database.
Just for your information, the dealer numbers were ORIGINALLY assigned in alphabetical order so the name of your dealership is probably in the first quarter of the alphabet IF the dealership name didn't change between the initial dealer number issue and when your car was sold. Dealer number 210 was Hartzell Chevrolet... Your's should precede this (with the disclaimer mentioned above - if the name changed, all bets are off :) ).
Thanks, Stan. It looks as if Triple A can help - and I wouldn't mind having a reproduction of the original window sticker, either! I appreciate the detailed information
A little while ago, I called up GM's Canadian Vintage Vehicle service dept. and had them send me that package with all the stuff about my particular vette.
Under the dealer heading, it shows: G.M. of Canada LTD. -Diplomatic Sales Oshawa Ontario. Does your NCRS book have any info regarding these kinds of sales?

I have a 63 ChevyII that was also as you state above. These were the vehicles GM Area managers etc... got to drive while they were doing their rounds of the different dealerships. Then Sold to dealers that got to sell them as NEW with full warranty regardless of the miles the GM manager put on. :)
Thanks to everyone - we've got it narrowed down to Eastern Pennsylvania, but no specific dealer yet. I imagine they are long gone... Triple A Enterprises has been a great help with this also. Zone 49 is Harrisburg, PA, as Stan noted above, and for my repro sticker we went with Fisher Chevrolet in Reading (#146 - close to my #159). We also know that the dealer name started with an F, G, or H, so some library research and some luck could actually identify the one I'm looking for.
Here is a listing to the Team Chevelle zone/dealer numbers data. You can look up the other dealers in the 49 zone.
I don't see your 159 there but you can view the other zone 49s
I been looking for a CT dealer zone 02 dealer 407 no luck yet.

Mike,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your post as I was out of town the past couple of days...
While I can identify all of the Canadian zones, I am unaware of the particular type of sale that you described. My best advice would be to contact George Zapora at GM Canada directly and see if he can't shed some light on your question.
As the owner of a Canadian delivered car, you are very fortunate to be able to gain access to documentation directly from GM!
Joe mentioned the Team Chevelle website as a source for zone/dealership information. When the idea for a zone/dealer code database was originally established, the intention was to link the Team Chevelle, Team Camaro and NCRS websites so that new information presented on one board made it into the records of the other two. I don't know if this is being done or not. It might be worth the effort to check all three boards in order to be absolutely certain.
Good luck with your search!
Joe,
Is 02 407 that the original zone/dealership for your Chevelle or is it for another car?
Hello Stan, the 02 407 is for a friends 70 SS Chevelle built in Canada. I got the Canadian GM documentation on it for him and it shows 02 407 as the zone/dealer. There are other CT. dealers with 02 zone but I have not found the 407 dealer.
