Default Expensive fan shroud

Hi guys I,ve got an early model 76 corvette and was looking at Ecklers for a new fan shroud.Every one I looked at was around a couple of hundred bucks except for the early model 76.It was around $1100.Am I missing something here and if I am is there a shroud from any other year that will fit. Thanks in advance. James.

That thing is $1,100 because it was used in 76 only, and then only for a few months. They're also discontinued, which doesn't help.

The 76 1st design core support, is the same support as was used from 73-75, as was the radiator. The 76 shroud was one piece, while the 73-75 shroud was made in 2 pieces (the shroud itself, and a separate extension). By having separate extensions, Chevrolet was able to use the same shroud with either the 350 or 454 (in 73-74) and add the appropriate (and cheaper to make) extension to the shroud. I think you should be able to use the 73-75 shroud and extension on your 76.

There is also a hand laid fiberglass replacement of the 76 shroud on the market. It's not made from the original material, but it does sell for less than $200.

What's wrong with your shroud? Can it be repaired with some fiberglass and resin? If you need a shroud extension, make one out of aluminum stock (tin snips will make needed cuts for the cut-out areas) and pop-rivet it in place. If you paint it dark gray, no one will know but you.

i have a 75 and I'm swapping to the dual electric fan set up and have a decent looking shroud sitting in the corner of my garage if you are don't have a repairable one and are interested. Mine does have a crack, but it is clean across and could be repaired with epoxy real easily!

Let me know if you are interested

It is a little dusty

Close up of crack

New shroud is 229.99 and the extention is 189.99 on ecklers = $419.98

Since it is used and the shroud is repairable/damaged I'd take $175+shipping from 45320 for both

Maybe if you fix it the shroud would be worth that much...

Well I planned on fixing it before I put it in the FS section. I just came up with that price b/c that is what my buddy offered for it, but then he opted for the dual spal fan set up too.

I have some epoxy resin on the way for a body repair, but if the op is interested as is what do you think is a fair price?

It's worth his asking price even with the crack.

If you need one, you need one.

I can't remember who's molding the hand laid replacement shroud, and I couldn't locate it in any of the fiberglass companies catalogs, but Corvette Central lists it on there website, with a price of around $175.

This is a 1st design 76 shroud, but it is not made out of the same material as original.
