I have A 72 and am thinking about converting over to electric headlight motors. At A later date electric wiper door motor. Has anyone done this? Is there A kit to purchase?
still don't see the value in converting the factory system works well is not overly expensive to repair but does from time to time need maintenance. if one side needs a canister replace both or next week you will be doing the other.
I converted my headlights to electric with the 'killer lights' kit from mcspeed.com. Kit was $79, Firebird rebuilt motors/C4 headlight controller (ebay) $112, used C4 headlight switch (ebay) $8. Spend another $150 rebuilding the rest of the headlight assembly.
Works great. Of course when I started, EVERYTHING in the vacuum setup was bad/rusted out.
That was late last year, so perhaps mcspeed still sells them.
I did the same mcspeed kit with firebird motors and C4 control module.
Cost me a bit more b/c i wanted new parts.
I'm considering converting to the lemans style fixed headlights over the winter.
If anyone is interested in buying my complete electric setup I might sell over the winter.
I also have the entire headlight harness upgrade with relays that I was planning on selling with the electric motor kit. The harness wasn't cheap but does remove the load of the system off the headlight switch which causes a fair amount of fires in our cars. Harness was cheaper than a new car. http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1968-1982.html
You can use an electric actuator motor for the wiper door if you have a 68.

Or you can fix your vacuum system for 'peanuts' (comparitively, anyway) by purchasing a $10 manual on the operation and diagnosis of the C3 vacuum system, a $20 vacuum gauge, and the time to read/understand the manual. Then just go out and do it.
Now, if the entire vacuum system has already been stripped out of your car, it's a 'toss up' as to which system to replace it with. (Remember....the C2 system was electric....the C3 system went to vacuum...)
