Default Oil Sending Unit Wire

I have a 1974 Corvette. Would anybody happen to know what color of wire connects to the oil sending unit by the distributor. The previous owner had installed a mechanical gauge instead of fixing the stock one. I've tested the gauge and it works I just don't know which wire to connect to the sending unit. The wires on the gauge are pink and black. There are no wires with this color under the hood. lol.

Also, I have an aftermarket eldelbrock performer intake. The new oil sending unit looks like it may hit the intake or I may have to take off the distributor to install it. Is this typical or do I have the wrong sending unit again. The one they sold me is a duracraft ps133.

On my 75 and I believe 74 is the same, the oil pressure seder is located just above the oil filter. There is a lot more room there.

Go here for a wiring diagram. http://www.nrjvette.com/johdotukset/

Hey, although I have a crate engine, I do have a new replacement harness. The blue wire (see picture behind the header tube) is for the oil pressure sensor and it comes out of the harness near the steering column interlock (replaced by the threaded rod in the picture). Oil pressure itself like '75 said in my case is above the oil filter.

The "black" wire should be (and probably really is) dark blue - that's the wire that goes to the sending unit. The pink wire is a switched 12V (hot when the ignition is on) feed - it is tied in common with some of the other gauges that require a 12V feed.

The sending unit should be mounted just above the oil filter.
