Default Corvette ID Question(mystery numbers)

I was looking around on our 69 restoration and I noticed on both the driver and passenger side there is a 4 digit number in a larger font cast into the body, deep in the door jam...I'd say its behind the lower door hinge, its on both sides and you can only see it when you open the doors. there is also a smaller set of numbers below the bigger set of numbers.

.........I was wondering If anyone knew what these numbers where? Do the help ID the car??

Post some pics. I'm guessing you are seeing part numbers.

If you want specifics about your 69, jot down the three codes on the trim tag. They list original paint and interior colors and the date your car passed the station on the assembly line where the trim tag was attached.

Here's one; yours will be similar:

Check the pad on the block at the front of the right head. AC and/or AIR might be in the way, but you will find two codes stamped on the pad. The first (larger characters) will be the engine identification stamp. The second (smaller characters) will be the VIN derivitive of the car the engine was originaly installed in.
