Default How do I remove this? (picture included)

I'm replacing my Mallory unilite module and have already determined that I need to remove the distributor to re-route the wires through the grommet.

Can the mechanical advance weight plate be removed? I'm lost at this point. I assume it can be removed to allow access to the breaker plate, but it feels like it's held on there pretty good.

Yellow arrow points to the plate I am talking about. Can it be removed?

Oh and yes, I do have weights and springs but they are set aside having already been removed.

you need to pull out the shaft. a complete disassembly of the distributor is necessary.

That's just particular to my setup, right? The mallory instructions don't mention that.

So I just removed the distributor, drive out the roll pin and that'll do it?

you should be able to change that module without all that messing around. yes the roll pin holds it together.

Yeah it's close, but getting the new wires down through the grommet seems impossible without removing the distributor.

it can be done , but its not a bad idea to take the dist apart and check it out and set end play. The very top cam plate is brazed on to the mainshaft.
Take it apart and make it pretty.

Be sure to remove the tach drive assembly before you attempt to smash out the shaft "because it feels like it is grabbing" ........Or carnage will ensue
