Default Rack Attack(ed) - lessons learned

I installed my rack attack this week, have not gotten around to test it but wanted to share a few experiences.

Dismantling the old steering was straight forward but took extra some time due to headers and manual gearbox.

Installing the new rack was quite straightforward but there were a few problems with adjusting.

header clearance, no problems

clearance to engine mount - very tight
--> i had to remove a little material to assure the lower end of steering joint could slip on enough to make it a safe installation

- check your clearance before mounting rack and remove material if neccessary.
- do also tighten the upper bolts that secure the rack first, this would rotate the rack a little backwards. Secure lower bolts thereafter.

steering joint binding
-->various attempts to adjust, took it apart and set the two lower joints 90 degrees opposite to each other. This solved the binding and i can rotate steering while car is in the air by grabbing the joint on the end of the steering wheel axle and rotate by hand without much effort.

- try getting the lower and upper joint that attached to the splined axle with 90 degrees between them.

This worked well for me, the car is 1979 Corvette C3 with Tremec and headers.
