What it means to recurve a distributor and how its done? I am having trouble with my timing and the guy helping me says we may have to recurve my distributor.

Basically recurving means adjusting the static timing, manual advance and vacuum advance. This is done by replacing the springs and weights in the distributor then timing the engine.

I think of timing like shooting a moving target, you got to aim ahead of the target, how fast the target is moving, changes how far ahead you shoot.

Re-curving means to change the advance weights and or springs to get the desired timing advance at the desired RPM .
The springs and weights are under the rotor , You can purchase a kit from any speed shop or on e-bay . It will contain different weight springs and different stiffness springs .
Hope this helps

Lars is pretty well known on other sites and has pretty much written everything on timing. Google "Lars papers distributors" and you can find more.

Why didn't ya just ask him what it means? If you got some guy who knows what he's doing helping you out, and he's telling you things, and you are just nodding your head and smiling, like you understand, then you are doing him a disservice.

Here's another link that does a good job explaining timing to someone who knows very little about it. It doesn't really assume any real prior knowledge on the subject.
