I did a search and can't seem to find what i am looking for.. I am experiencing fogging in my front window after taking the car out for a drive. When i park it and come back i've got a foggy front window that takes place.. I'm sure theres a fix.. Can someone help me out please? Thanks kindly.
You have to first figure out what it is. Moisture on your windshield would indicate moisture in the ac/heater box. Is the moisture inside the car or outside.
You may just have gunk clogging up the drain for the evaporator and its staying wet inside instead of draining out.
You would know if its antifreeze. The smell is pretty unmistakable. But we don't know what you have as far as coolant is concerned.
Is it a big job... with AC, we'll say there's more to take out to get to the heater core.
It's strange you don't smell the coolant (antifreeze), if in fact you have a fair mix of it with your water in the cooling system. Sometimes it will actually leak into the cabin on the pax side. There should be a film on the windshield, inside, which would be residue from the coolant. You can see this easily by just slightly wiping the windshield with your finger.
my thought is that you just have something damp, or wet inside. especially this time of year, I can see where condensation might accumulate on the inside of the window. It might not be a heater core leak, but I bet you've got a leak of some sort somewhere.
Just another idea, if you don't have a heater core leak. If you are driving with the A/C on, it will cool the windshield where the defroster hits it. Then when you park and turn the car off and open the door to get out, you are letting warm, moist air into the car. The new moisture might then be condensing on the inside of the cold glass. Just a thought!
