I decided to put Autometer American Muscle gauges in my 71 convertible. This forum was great in learning how to fit the speedometer and tach with the mounting gasket made of Lexan. Also what to do with the turn signals, break light and high beam indicator... Thanks for all the posts and a great search function, made it really easy.
Just need to wire things up now but wanted to show a couple pictures...
I had to make the some boards to mount the gauges on, it is clear Lexan that I cut and then painted black in flat paint. The fit is real nice and it only took about 15 minutes for each gauge. There are some articles on the forum that say how to make them. Pretty easy.
You did the right thing getting full sweep gauges. They're higher quality and will be more accurate and more percise although more expensive. I picked up some short sweep ultra lites cheap and am not that happy. My gas gauage i bought separately is full sweep and i really like it. The voltmeter pointer is stuck against the case. Temp gauge reads high and reflects head temp rather than water temp. Oil pressure is hard to read because of the large scale going all the way to 100 psi. Put these in a week ago.

Looks good. I like these after market gauge threads. So were you able to use the old wiring or do you have to use all new wires? Also do these gauges all come with sending units I assume? And your using them.
Wonder how the gas gauge would work with the old rheostat in the tank.?
I worried about the whole pulling the dash apart. Afraid I will not get it back together....
I was able to use all the original wiring, the gas gauge is programmable so it will work with existing sending unit...all other gauges came with its own sending unit... I will take some pics tomorrow of the wiring before I put the dash back together. The speedometer is electric so I have to put the converter on the transmission tomorrow I will post how that works and I put in an HEI distributor so the electric tech will be ready to hook up.
Interesting how you handled the turn signal indicators. Much cleaner (and less work) than mine. I also got rid of that stupid radio which never sounded as good as the engine.

Very Nice work . It will be this NeXT winter's projet for me. Can you post The links for The instructions?
Wow - these are the nicest aftermarkets I have seen in a C3.... I especially like the full sweep and the center gauges.
I was wondering what those Green/red lights were in the speedo and tach..... I was thinking ohhhh- that may a be a good spot to mount my Gear Vendors indicator lights - rather than in the DIN radio bezel.
They look fantastic with that blue color on the body !!!!!!

Hows the GV project coming along? I just had the fluid changed in my GV 4X4. Synthetic of course.
