Hey guys, first post on here and im in BIG trouble.
I have replaced everything in my vette for the wiper motor and tested everything.
It burns up motors left and right, without the arms even being hooked up
new relay wiper door solenoid, new wiper motor, override switch.
My biggest problem is i dont understand the motor.
How does it work? voltage out when running , high low speeds and park. its so confusing me ive looked at wilcox corvette and it made it possible to bench test it. but what wires go where. what should the over ride switch do? short power or connect ground? nothing i have looked at describes what each item does or what currents it should have.
any tips on how to communicate on here or critics feel free. this is my second ever forum posting.
This is the correct '68 wiper motor diagram Ernie of Willcox just perfected.
If you download all Willcox's '68 wiper motor papers you will find the voltages with and without the motor installed and this diagram will show you where each wire goes.
Hi aj,
In addition to the Willcox information there's a whole section dealing with the wiper motor and washer pump in Body-Electrical section of the GM Chassis Service Manual. Perhaps those photos and diagrams will be some help to you.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
haha there was broken wires every where inside the harness, just finished rebuilding it. waiting on the new motor to arrive and we shall see. thank you for suck quick response.

Before you hook up another new motor carefully check your wiring to the above posted diagram, that red and black should not be connected to each other. Your going to smoke yet another motor if you aren't careful.
Get yourself a photobucket account (free) so you can post pictures, that way maybe we can see what's wrong.
i went through the entire engine harness today and repaired or replaced all damaged wires. i have the interior (dash) out now and im going through the rest of the wiring harness. This poor car has been hacked up and im finding dead rat skeletons :0

Please bench test the motor before you install it too! If possible post a picture of the motor and the connection wires you have.
Rick, I just did another edit on this picture yesterday. except for the typo on the lower portion it should be 100 percent correct. Dangit.. now I'll have to do it over again on Monday..
The lower text should read: A B and C must have good grounds. The brown and white striped wire D will have 12 volts on it when a ground is not present. This can be cause by a missing ground on the switch bracket A, or by turning the switch to the open position. Black wire E will pick up voltage if the over-ride switch is open or if the ground is missing from A. This will make the light on the dash come on.
Saved again Ernie.
I'll be placing another small order soon too, no rush these are just some things I found that will be better replaced than restored and a few parts I didn't know were missing.
Now I wish I hadn't parted the other car out.
Sorry its taking so long guys, i have been having trouble tuning the car and getting the distributor straightened out. Im gonna be back on it soon, the pictures are a great help and the car look like mine, just way better haha. very nice Ill post pictures up today for everyone
