For those have done the LS1 swap, what are yall using for AC? Please go into detail if you can ie. what setup you used, if any of the original ac system was retained? thanks
Someone makes a bracket that allows you to use the original AC compressor. I don't have AC in my car so I didn't pay a lot of attention to those posts but if you search the LS swap thread you will find it.

Using the Original AC compressor do you have to change the pulley to fit the LS belt?
No room in the original location, it has to move to the top. You can get a very nicely made bracket from Josh - Superpowers over on the other site. I have one but have not installed it yet, it's on the list. My plan is to use all the existing parts I can.
I am aware that the original ls1 ac spot will not work but what I really would like to know is if there is a replacement AC compressor with the LS 6 rib pulley that i can use with the factory C3 AC system?
Kwik bracket with the correct offset, f body, truck, corvette. I put a Vintage Air system in my 68 vette, works great. They substituted LS parts where possible. Go with a local dealer to minimize shipping charges.
On my 2nd LS swap, I went with Classic Air. No differentiation between heat/defrost ports, but a few hundred cheaper. Also easier to modify because of the simplicity. They also substituted parts free.
Both GREAT companies to deal with, I would reccomend either.

Gary,
How difficult was the classic air system to install?? What of the original AC of Vette was used?
"Difficult" is kind of a relative term considering you're doing an LS engine swap. Pretty much the whole dash/center console has yo come out, but you're probably doing that any way. Only thing reused is the console control panel.
Both Vintage and Classic Air have pretty detailed instructions on their website. Btw the vintage went in the 68 corvette LS swap, classic is in my 72 442 swap.
