Default fuel pump install

Hi I have a 75 350/automatic. Car has not run in 25 years. I rebuilt the carb and replaced hoses etc. I need to replace fuel pump. Is this possible to do without pulling front motor mount bolsts and lifting engine? Where do you access the damn thing from? Ive replaced plenty of 350 fuel pumps so I know about the pump rod trick but how do I access this? Any advice from someone who did this job would be helpful.

Thanks

One way is to pull the wheel and use a long extension from the side.

If the car has A/C you have to access the pump from below. You do not need to lift the engine.

I did that job a couple of weeks ago. Slow and tedious but it can be done from the wheel well. Roger twigged me to that way of getting at it.

Weapon of choice with 7/16" socket (bolts are that odd size).

the only other trick other then the long socket is to get everything started with longer bolts then you would normally use and then swap it with the right size bolts after it has been pulled in a little bit

It's done from underneath the car. You can pull the right front tire and you can access the mounting bolts eaisier that way, but you still have to crawl under it to get the fuel lines loose. Since you've done small block before, you know about the bolt on the front of the engine to hold the pump rod right?

Hi there!
I'm new to this and will be installing a new fuel pump and rod in my 350 next week. Could you please explain about the "bolt to hold the rod"?

Thanks!

Thanks, anyway!

Thanks for the replys guys. I have the front of the car up on stands already with the wheels off so I think I'll try it from the side with long extension 3/8". *sigh* I guess to do the job right I need to get a rubber S line from one of the suppliers?

That is a wise idea. Here was my pump end..... That is a fire waiting to happen.
