What to use to remove paint?
What can I use to remove paint that is on the moulding around the rear window of a 79? Is not a little overspray, it was painted the body color. What can I use to remove it without damaging it? Thanks

If you are talking about the metal frame of the window (or some other metal part), remove from the car and use caustic paint stripper to dissolve the paint then wash it and the caustic completely off. If the paint is on a plastic part, you cannot use a caustic stripper or it will destroy the part also. You will have to scrape and/or brush off as much as you can and then repaint as required. It would be best to use vinyl dye on [unpainted] plastic parts; but if it has already been 'painted', dye would no longer hold any benefits over paint.

Tape off the painted body area double/triple and use a very fine steel wool with chrome polish on the SS trim. The polish will not damage the paint if contact is made and the tape will buffer off the steel wool if you make a bit of a slip.
