Has anyone ever bothered to fix the security system on there car? I have a 74 and the horn works but the alarm doesn't. I am not sure how hard it is to fix seeing that everything seems to be hidden. Any suggestions?
My son and I both have 74's and in both of ours the alarm system did not work when we first got the cars. In both cases the problem was the key switch in the fender. The switch is easy to remove, just remove the spring clip on the inner fender side and slide the switch with wires attached out of the fender. At that point you can put a jumper wire across the switch (or remove the wires from the switch and short them together). If the horn blows with a door or hood open you know the problem is the switch. Replacement switches are readily available however I was able to clean mine (and my son's) in a brass cleaning solution I made up using common household chemicals.
Welcome to the forum. You have all the info above for you to fix. You only need it to work if you want it, that is up to you. I made mine working in my 73, others may or may not have done this, depending on the cars purpose.
all connections are secure all switches seem good the only thing is the yellow wire Here is a shot from the inner wheel well the yellow has something to do with this??
