Santa Clara Corvettes is holding an ALL CORVETTE Auto-x in Marina, CA.
The event is held at Marina Municipal Airport in Marina, CA. It is located on Imjin Road just off Reservation Road at the south end of Marina. When you are heading south on Reservation, you will pass through the town of Marina. Then you will come to a stop light (Imjin Rd). Turn left on Imjin, and the Auto-x will be on the right side just after you pass through a stop sign.
This is for Corvettes ONLY. You must have a 2000 or newer Snell or DOT approved helmet to run. Registration opens at 8am and the first run group/work group is at 9am. Workgroups are mandatory for all drivers.
For motel reservations, contact Quality Inn at 800-550-0055 and ask for Patricia. Tell her you are with the Corvette Club. Rooms are blocked for the night prior to the race. Here's how it works..... Show up the night before the race or the morning of the race. At the race, drive it like you stole it - this is great because there are no curbs, trees, buildings, cars, gravel, etc - just a nice big open concrete lot with a course made of cones. Go home in the afternoon with the biggest grin you have ever had.
You can always email me at mimzr1@scbglobal.net or call me on my cell at 408-313-8990 with any questions. Mim Petersen/Racing Director

Yes that seems to be a problem today. All cruising and no competition events!! I went to a great event in Las Vegas though "Corvette Roulette" and at the welcome party they showed photos from the 70s and in every photo there were Vettes being drag raced or autocrossed. How times have changed. I think Chevrolet needs to improve their image. Something like what Mazda has done over the years. The younger crowd has money and likes to play. Where are they? Yes us old guys still know Laguna Seca for its old name. With the exception of the Lemans Series the Corvette is not know for it's racing image anymore. Any suggestions? Maybe Chevrolet could sponsor Grassroots involvement for building autocross sites, drag strips or promote their cars being run for track days and back their warranties for these type events. We enjoy our 69, the earlier orange photo above and everyone else should too. Thanks Mark
