I did better than I expected, plus Bee Jay was there! I was in the area for my Dad's birthday. My Dad is a Corvette club member locally, and they were hosting an autocross. Here are a few pics...
Awaiting tech inspection
I parked right behind Bee Jay
Some of the other cars
A few racing pics
Several people told me that I had "by far" the loudest car there...I guess those new Hooker Max Flow inserts ARE pretty noisy. I had a great time, and can't wait to attend the October event!
Nice to see some C3's out there. The two clubs I've particpated with in Austin and San Antonio have none, except mine. It would be nice to have comparable competition to guage myself against. Lots of people want rides though.
That corner by the "Lot C" sign looks a bit tight. I wouldn't want to screw up on that corner.
How did you do against the orange 69 with the BFG T/As? or a stock miata? or seconds off the top time.

Yeah, the "Lot C" corner was a bit intimidating...needless to say, I went thru it a bit cautiously. Too tight and you hit the pole...too wide and you hit the curb.
I was the fastest of the C3's there. I didn't check the times at the end of the day, but I'm pretty sure I was a second faster than the orange '69. I was faster than all of the Miatas there...they were running in the 35-37 sec range, but I was expecting them to be much quicker on that tight course.
The fastest time was set by the blue Subaru WRX (30.2 sec?)...my fastest time was 32.625. We all got 11 runs that day, and I still had room to shave time (that's always the case, I think). I haven't run in an autocross since 2006, but I'm planning to go more often now that the car is running well.
Awesome! I love hammering my car on the autocross - the legal way to have fun!
Yeah, I had a BLAST!! I prefer the lower speed of autocross instead of "track day" events at the area racetracks. I've seen too many videos of cars being destroyed at track day events...scary stuff.
Seeing your post makes me a little jealous, I haven't got to auto cross the car since my first time last October when I wound up smoking my trans (3rd and 4th now slip). Since then I have been collecting every thing for an LS swap and I'm now ready to do the swap, unfortunately I don't have the time to do the swap until the end of the summer. How ever I am going to limp the car to a near by show this Saturday to at least be able to enjoy the company of other motor heads and take my mind off of work and stress.

Great looking car. What size tires and wheels do you have on your vette? They look great!!!!
Yeah, it's great to see C3's out autocrossing, and I'm trying my best to be one of them! You see the rare C3's driving on the road these days...I guess they're all in garages.
My dad normally autocrosses his '57 Vette, but he's have a few problems with his Rochester FI right now. I'm sure he'll get them sorted out, and get back on the track.

I also have a 70.

Thanks Ron! I'm running 16X8 wheels at all 4 corners. I prefer to run 255-50/16 tires, but I've got 245-50/16's (BF Goodrich G-Force Sport) right now.
what class did they make you run in? I'm the only C3 in St louis auto-x and I have to run in SSM because of my mild mods, mostly the cam swap killed me. It just seems odd that I have to give time to the new Z06's and most of the prepared cars.
I've got the same problem, my suspension does not bolt up to the stock spots in the rear, bumping me up...but I don't do it to compete against anyone other than me.
The subby laid the best time? Go figure...I'd have thought that BMW would have held the top spot.

This was an NCCC sanctioned event, so the NCCC classes and rules applied. Since I'm not an NCCC member, I was placed in an "open" or guest class. I had to compete against all of the non-Corvettes and non-member cars. My car has plenty of updates from stock, so I'm sure would have been pushed into a "modified" class to compete against modern iron had I been an NCCC member.
I knew that my times wouldn't be competitive against the newer cars, especially the two Subarus. So, I focused on reducing my times, finding a faster line around the course, and having FUN.
What suspension do you have under the car? is it more or less stock? I noticed that many cars do have some dip or lean when cornering hard and have never seen photos of my C3 when turning hard like that and was wondering if the amount I see on your photos is the same thing mine is doing?
If you were to beef it up for racing would that help in autocrossing with less lean and flatter corners?
