any 750 carb will be plenty to handle a 454 with a little bit of cam if you have a spreadbore intake then i would use a q-jet if not get a holley what kind of carb is on it now why don't you just rebuild the carb that is on it now is it a qjet thats on it now then just rebuild and tune it.
whats on it now is a eldebroke 600 i think its old i just finished rebuilding and boring the engine 30 over figured id go with a new carb but i wanted to make sure the engined started and and oil pressure before i got the new carb so far the engine sounds good but is running very very rich

If you just finished rebuilding it, why don't you know what cam is in it? It could be idling rough for any number of reasons. My recommendation is to just get the Holley 3310 780 cfm.
