Default xs-power pipes headers

Installed XS-power sidepipes and headers on my 76 SB. First of all, price can't be beat - 900.00 shipping included. Installation was a breeze, better fit/clearance than the Hedmans I had on there. Sidepipes bolted right up to the existing holes in the frame. Driver side took a little tweaking as far as the frame holes, but not enough to fret about. Sound great. So far, no real scientific testing, but seems like better performance than previous setup - Hedman headers and flowmasters to the back. So, to those wondering, for stainless headers and pipes, I'm glad I spent only 900 instead of at least double that for Hookers. Oh yeah - straight through mufflers in the pipes, easily removable, looks like 3 tack welds on each end. Will post pics soon

Middle of winter all the racers are getting their motor refreshed upgraded, middle of summer shops are busy fixing all the stuff they did in the winter

Default xs-power pipes

Besides having to get enough posts to be able to post pics, I wanted to make sure I mentioned Custom Image Corvettes, they are who I bought the headers and sidepipes from. They put up with my emails, texts, and phone calls as I was waiting for my stuff to arrive, I guess I was a little impatient. Big thanks to them for everything.

Mine are going on within a few weeks. My only complaint so far is the welds are not polished and the pipes have SSautochrome etched into them that I have to remove.

Why did you remove the baffles and go with different Lashoooosh? Do the ones that come in them sound bad? They do not look easy to remove with those 3 welds. I have no idea how I would grind off those 3 welds without damaging the sidepipes

Get yourself this kit and spend some time and you'll have they sexiest pipes ever.

http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/sspolkit.html

As far as why i chose the STS was because i wanted something different and it had good reviews on the forum so i took a gamble and they sound awesome and lots of torq when you hit on the gas. Totally worth it!

Here's what the STS baffles looked like before they were installed..

Here's a small clip with my iphone at idle.

LASHOOOSH that sounds great! Did you listen to them with the straight thru baffels that were in them? That would be sweet if you had a video with the baffels that came in them and the baffels that you put in them. How did you remove the ones that came in them?

It was a long and tedious process in grinding the spot welds inside the pipes but very do-able.. A lot of guys we're saying that the baffles that came with them are pretty restrictive so i didn't bother mounting them to see how they sounded or performed. I just went ahead with the STS's anyway cause i knew they would be good and solid from doing a lot of reading on here.. The STS's that i have installed are fully open without the capped tube. I wanted them to be as loud as possible when i hit on the gas..

I didn't see any restrictive testing with the baffles that come in them. Reason I am asking is mine are sitting here on the floor and I have been going back and forth about weather they need STS inserts or not. Listening to them stock on youtube they sure sound good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fdmRERPOj0 How did you grind those welds out? I can't even think of how I would grind them out of there to remove the baffles if I wanted to change them

Just took photos of inside mine for reference and the internet sucks without photos. Would be nice to see photos of these removed.

I didn’t bother taking a picture of mine when they we're out but essentially it's one massive amount of steel Cylinder pipe inside the 4” pipe.. Not trying to start a debate here on which is better over the other.. I just elected to change mine since no one had anything bad to say about it on forum and I’m glad I did.. To each their own my friend.

The mufflers in mine were straight-thru, so I opted to at least try them out first. If I were to remove them, a die grinder or dremel should be able to grind off the three small welds

ljdm did yours look like mine? You tried them yet? If I remove them and put in something else I am curious how I am going to get them to stay without welding them.

No - mine were straight thru, centered in the pipe, also looked like just three small tack welds. Sounds nice
