Default Radiator petcock

Hello, needed to drain some coolant out of the radiator, when putting the petcock back, the area around the petcock kind of buckled as I was threading it back in. Although bent, it did not appear to break. The petcock does not seem to be completely threaded in, but tight enough where it stopped the flow of coolant. Concerned that I might now have a leak, but no way to tell by visually looking at it. Besides, if I torque it any further, it will surely damage the bottom of the radiator. Any one experienced this before? Concerned I might have a leak now, but not sure how to tell? Any thoughts?

You should be able to put quite a bit of force on that petcock without distorting anything, I am concerned that the area in question may have become thin from corrosion. You should either replace the radiator, or remove it and take it to a radiator shop. I know, I know, you want to hear "Don't worry about it, it'll be fine.". Sorry, man.

Ha, surely don't want to hear that but I am thinking the same thing. It distorted so much that I actually thought it was plastic!! Yuck, what a drag!

If you tried to tighten it with a B-A wrench, then, "yes" too much force. A radiator petcock can be completely tightened with a twist from some pliers.
