Has anyone had any problems with the 82 crossfire injection that either couldn't be fixed or were extremely expensive to repair?

CFI parts are all relativly cheap, most are available at bargain prices on Ebay. Only problematic things are the air switch & diverter valves but you can use the 84 ones (not factory correct).
The engine is relativly easy to maintain and problems are easy to fix. A lot of info can be found here: http://www.crossfire.webhop.net
