Default front camber maxed

hi i could use a lil help solving a camber problem, both front wheels tip outward with + camber and i cant get - camber, the nuts on the upper A arm adjustment bolts are loosned to the end of the bolts (max - camber) and yet the camber is still in the + if it was just one side i could see it being damaged or bent items but it the same both sides. changing the caster didnt make much of a differance. the frame came from a different car (both cars are 74) the front sits rather tall, theres very lil load on the springs. i'm thinking the car that the frame came from might of been a big block car, heavier springs and thus my small block isnt loading the springs enough to tip wheels in corectly. does that sound posible? any ideas would realy help thanks

Any chance someone installed *offset* upper shafts in the control arms? They are sometimes used to correct frames that spread a little. Maybe they are flipped the wrong way?

If it's way tall...are the springs in place correctly?

well i went and checked the vin on the body that the frame came off, turns out it was originaly a 454 car, i loaded a bunch of weights on the front of this car and it fulled the body down and the wheels in closer to where they should be. guess i need to change the springs or drop the 454 back in, bummer was hoping to play with the small block for awhile before putting the 454 back in or could i just use longer bolts and larger shims to give extra - adjustment for now? would that cause any failure?

The proper fix would be to adjust to correct ride heights, preferably using the "Z" and "D" specs below which aren't really affected by non-OEM tires. Not to mention the looks, riding above designed specs compromises suspension geometry, and thus handling. IMHO this is very much worth the effort, the benefits outweighing the cost of an extra set of coils.

You could just cut the coils you have and wait until later to replace them as needed. ...tho cutting them will increase their spring rate.

Have you driven the car around to let the suspension settle out?
