I somewhat recently purchased a 1969 Corvette L-71 coupe shod with a factory 427/435 hp Tri-Power engine with factory side-pipes. Today I had a look underneath and there appears to be some sort of insulation setup on the underside of the floor. Thus, my questions are:
1. Was there any type of stock/factory insulation on the underside of the floorboards in the transmission tunnel area?
2. Was there any type of stock/factory insulation on the underside of the floorboards on a 1969 Corvette?

Yes, there most definitely was stock/factory insulation... Transmission tunnel, fire wall, which also wraps under toward the floorboards. I replaced all of it on my 68 (which was near all disintegrated) and is readily available from most all parts vendors. I believe I purchased mine at Willcox.
Hi John,
There were also insulation blankets on the frame rail side of both side-exhaust mufflers.
If your car doesn't have these that could be adding heat to your hot feet.
Regards,
Alan
