I bought the GM painless wiring harness from jegs yesterday. I'm going to wire it up in my '76 becuase I'm so mad at the factory destroyed wiring. Any tips for me before I dive into a cursing frenzy. :D I think I remember one of you guys doing this. Can stand it when factory wires suck and die on me every other second. I gotta have this electric system perfect before I put the fuel injection in if you know what i mean. :smash:
I got the wiring harness today. It's very nice. The kit is straight forward and eliminates lots of useless things that break in the stock system. Like the ballast for example before the coil. Very nice. I can't wait to start wiring.
X, Do your self a favor when doing the computer wiring, route the wires on the pass side, through that large grommet for the vacuum hoses, it's the only practical route....computer to go behing map pocket, in glovebox if you have one, or in/under radio in console, if not stock radio....
Maybe you guys will know this, I have a lot of extra wires in my engine compartment, computer etc. has all been removed. Is it possible to cut the un-used wires and cap them off with heat shrink at the fire wall, or will this cause problems within the remaining harness.
Blues it's 10202 from jegs. The only thing is that i have an ididit column without a ign switch on the column so you'll have to get the gm column one. it's a universal kit but it looks like it's going to fit very well
Mrvette- that's what i'm thinking of doing actually. seemed like the best way to approach the situation.
