So I pull the vette out of the garage to do some work and I notice come paw prints on the front bumper. Can anyone identify the critter ? If its a cat I won't be to concerned, but anything else and I will have to investigate it a bit more.
yea, I agree looks like a ring tail to me too. If it's out in the day light and won't run from you, better be concerned, as some of these can be sick.....

I agree it's a coon ... 81VETTOM offers sound caution 'bout rabies!

He is only looking for food. Don't keep anything like garbage in there and he won't come back. Let him find something to eat and you have a friend for life. Keep the windows rolled up for now.
I've heard that human, dog, or coyote urine might repel the 'coon.
I don't expect many 'vette owners would resort to whipping it out and hosing down their own car with p!ss, though.
We had success with human and the powdered coyote urine, in keeping the varmant away from the veggie garden.
Once, when I was under the car and had the garage cracked open, the 'coon got brave enough to venture inside. A roughly thrown ratchet startled him, and he left after a minute anyway.
Seems that these animals have a very healthy sense of curiousity.
If you're worried though, can't you rent a trap, bait it, and when he's caught, relocate him on the other side of the county??
That looks like one of my local racoon prints. I have never had a problem with them. Like Norval said they are just looking for food. I've walked out my back door while BBQing after dark and had them stealing chicken breasts off my grill. They are not destructive like rodents.
Sorry guys, but I'm pretty sure that isn't a raccoon print. Raccoons have longer and skinnier "fingers". I would bet money it's a cat. I live in the woods and see raccoons on a regular basis and I've never seen one jump onto a car, in a trashcan yes, but never a car.
It looks like a racoon and it also looks like he just reared up on the front of the car to take a gander. Did you find more prints further up on the car's hood?
