I am in the process of installing a new clutch as part of my transmission upgrade. The transmission kit came with a new pilot bearing. The pilot bearing in there now has less than 25K miles on it, but I thought I'd replace since I got a new one and everything is apart.
My questions for the C3 Technical Sages are:
1) What grease do you recommend for the pilot bearing?
2) Is there any special technique or trick I should know about for removing the old pilot bearing, greasing the new bearing, or installing the new pilot bearing?
3) How do you recommend I turn the engine over to check the bellhousing to crankshaft alignment before installing the new transmission?

IF you can add grease to an old bearing (I think most of them are sealed), you should use a good synthetic grease. It won't melt at normal engine temps and should last longer and not dry out as quickly.
