Ty, this should really be no joke about turning these morons in to not only the BBB but Consumer Affairs and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. That's what those bureaucrats collect our hard-earned tax money for, to deal with subhuman debris like these guys. When I read your initial post I was incensed enough over the outrageous quote they gave you, but when you mentioned that the car had no brake pedal after you departed from his shop when it had functioning brakes when you delivered it to them...somebody needs to give this guy's pee-pee a real good whack. I won't bother you with any brake-fixing advice since others have already taken care of that, but honestly- you'd be doing your neighbors a big favor by turning these clowns in before they 'fix' some poor little old lady's car and she runs over someone's kid

We came to the absolute same conclusion. It was a wonder that no one was hurt as a result of this incompetence. The owner of the car is already notifying the BBB. I appreciate the names of the other two, I'll pass them along and get them notified as well.

........... 1972 just doesn't seems old to me so I am always surprised when a certified mechanic can't work on one. THOSE were the cars that every high school kid or shade Tree mechanic could work on.
Ty
I take my new car into the shop because of all the electronics stuff and the mechanics really know their stuff for that crap.......but give them a car with a carburetor and they are lost. It took me 20 minutes to try to explain to them the concept of an automatic spring choke. They just shake their heads, plug their ears and say "LA LA LA LA LA!"
