You'll have to drill a hole in the compartment frame. Some guys leave the light out for that reason.

I decided to put mine in. It's a big hole like maybe 9/16 or 5/8".

Be careful though. When I got mine working and back together I drained my batt. twice before I realized the light was on. That door must be firmly latched and down.

Thanks for the reply .

Do they sell original style rivets to attach the storage compartment doors to the frame.

Hi Bruce,
I've not seen the hinge/frame rivets available from the usual vendors.
They may well be available from a hardware company like Mc Master-Carr.
When I was working on my compartment doors I couldn't even figure out what kind of tool was used to set the rivets.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan,

I did some checking and ZIP products sells part no. SF-656 Compartment Door Rivets the same as original. I purchased a new storage compartment trim with new screw set which includes new rivets , screws etc. I reused the old hinges and painted them . I did not like the length of the rivets in the kit so i purched longer ones and installed them using a rivet gun. I then cut off some of the rivet purtruding through and hammered it down flat using a vise.

You can find rivets and tools at Rivetsinstock.com

Not sure if we talking about the same but my (new) frame had the appropriate hole for the storage compartment light (guess the frame was from Corvette America). Or 68 and 69 are different here. Sorry for the bad quality of the pic.
