Default 1979 383 stroker intake?

Currently have an Edelbrock Performer RPM dual plane intake.
Was wondering what pros and cons there would be in going to a single plane such as a Team G intake?
Also has anyone seen the World Products Motown intake? They say its for built up 350s to 383s but haven't heard much about it..

Need more specs on the engine - unless your goal is absolute top HP at higher RPM, the Performer RPM is one of the best overall street intakes.

Asn Billla said, If you are not going to spinn it to 7 grand keep the dual plane. You will probably loose all low end torque if you switch intakes

Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-jet (pn 7104 - same passages as pn 7101) works just fine. Best: 11.59 sec in quarter with a quadrajet and 3.08s!

If your using a cam around 500 lift and stay with what you got the small CSA with give it better street manners then an open plenum intake.

We do use a the Motown intake on builds that are 400 CID or bigger and with 210 or bigger runners and solid roller cams that are in the 625 lifter area and over 258 at .050 as most of these engine make peak torque around 3800 RPM and peak power at 7000 RPM.

I'll have to get back to you on the engine.
I have not a clue about choosing heads and cams so I left that to my mechanic, as soon as I get a build sheet for it I'll let you know.
The car will only see a few passes every now and then as Im not real big into that.

If your going to do 1/4 mile passes with it and buzzing it to +7000 rpm
then great.
If you're looking at spending 80% of your time on the street -stay away from it.

The real answer is: Your head intake port opening dimensions determines the required size of intake. AFR 195 and larger cc heads require single planes.

I have used single planes on my Vette since the 80's. My 383 has the Weiand smaller rpm single plane something like 7531.

I use the Motown on my 434. It will not clear any stockish type hood. I would not recommend it for sub 400 ci motors.
