82 vette with power door locks-Passenger side works fine. Opens and closes both doors with no problems. Drivers side only closes and does not open. Sometimes it does work opening and closing though. Any thoughts? Thank you
I generally replace both switches to start. Its a good idea to clean and tighten the ground at the passenger door.
In your case replacing the drivers switch might fix it,you can save work on the passenger door for another day.

I just repaired my power door locks on my 82. Here were the symptoms:
Neither door would lock/unlock with the power switches
The driver's side was so stiff you could not lock/unlock by manually pulling or pushing the lock button
I had 12V at the pigtails so power was going to the switches
My problem ended up being a bad switch on the passenger door. I replaced both switches and everything works fine.
The way the door lock circuit is wired, BOTH switches have to work for either switch to work. If both switches make the driver side door work -- it is probably the actuator in the passenger side door. If it is doing wierd things -- probably one or both of the switches.
I agree with making sure the ground in the passenger side door is good before changing any parts.
