Default Wrong rear caliper ?

My manual has an exploded view of the brake caliper that shows two O rings and also states there should be two to replace. The caliper I just took off to rebuild only has one O ring on the rear side of the caliper. Is this the wrong caliper ?

Only the fronts have 2 O rings, rears only 1. Probably related to the 2 bleed screws on rear and additional passage not necessary.

ok. the manual (at least where i read ) did not specify. i guess my caliper is good to go. there is only one passage machined. the other side is blank. thanks !

Sliding them back is not the problem; keeping them back and out of the way is what the clipper is for.

Install the pads, push them back, slip a socket between the pads to hold them, install the caliper on the rotor. Socket will slip out as the caliper goes on.

Go find the socket when it rolls away.

I've got some wood blocks for that purpose.

Thanks. Used a 5/16 socket and it worked perfect. Funny thing is that I was talking about sliding the pistons back in the ss sleeves after replacing the seals. I found the thread about using a feeler gauge. Caliper rebuild went well ( only had to buy two kits after messing up the first) and now I have a good pedal feel again. Im sure I can do better but I'm going to drive it a little and then bleed again.

yeah, for a guy that is on the fence about wanting to do all this work for the joy of C3 ownership, having a success was a big deal. it feels good.
