Today I installed my strut Rod bushings. However, I'm a bit concerned with the Camber bolts.
When I installed the Strut Rods with the new bushings with the original Camber Bolts. I noticed that the strut rod had was not fastened tight and it had a lot of play between the metal piece inside the strut bushing and the bolt itself.
Is this normal? or did the company I ordered the strut rod bushings from made a mistake.
I know certain years had different diameter sizes of the strut rods
I puzzled at that as well. The OD of the bolt is smaller than the ID of the inner bushing sleeve. Doesn't seem right as you would think that the two would fit together tightly. But the other respondents are correct. Those four lipped washers take the load of the camber bolts.
Here is the old. You can see the washers.
And the new (from Willcox) with one washer in place.
i purchased my replacement poly bushings from a local vender and he advised me to reuse the original washers instead of the ones in the kit, said they were stronger and gave better support.i did what he said and have had no issues.
Sorry for the long time to respond...It's been a hectic weekend.
However, you guys were right, I simply forgot about those washers... I got them and now my strut rods are installed and bolted on tight to the bracket with no play at all.
