SBC rebuilding question
With the engine upside down; the crank gear dot at 12 and the timing gear dot a 6 so they are next to each other.....#1 is at TDC of which stroke....compression or exhaust?

Looking at the engine upside down with the dots aligned, the crank key at 7:00 and the cam pin at 9:00 you're at TDC compression #6 and TDC exhaust #1.
The crank dot would need to be at 6, and the cam gear at 12 if it's aligned upside down...
