Insurance Question
I have concerns the storage of the vehicle when not in use. It seems that most of the companies that I have checked out on the web require that the vehicle be stored in a fully enclosed lockable garage. I was wondering if there is any flexibility in this area at all? My home was built with a car port open at two sides. I would not be able to enclose it with out spending a fortune and building onto the house is not an option at this time. The most I could probably do is to install a garage door and opener which would only close the entrance to the car port. Anyone have or had this problem?
I am with Hagerty's and they do require that the car be parked/stored in a locked garage. I am sure that the purpose of this is to limit the cars exposure to damage be it from the weather or from vandals. Some companies have requirements that you be with the car at all times that it is out of the garage. Luckly that is not Hagerty.
Maybe someone knows a company that has relaxed storage standards.
tom...
...but I'm with State Farm Insurance & the '68 is registered as a "pleasure vehicle".....
1. No storage req'mts.
2. Unlimited mileage
3. It's insured for the price of what the car is worth (i.e. -$20k @ $35 per mo.) :D
Thanks for replying...I was hoping that Hagerty was not that strict. I geuss I will have to look elsewhere.
VERSKEL...I was not aware that State Farm was writing ins policies for classic cars...I may give them a call.
Wireless Guy...I checked American Famiy Insurance Web Site...It seems they don't show Louisiana as being servicable.
