Default What an butt!!

Well, actually rearend, but now that you are reading this, I have a question. :D
I have a 350 bored .060 over, aluminum edelbrock performer heads, 64cc, roller rocker arms, roller comp cam 292 duration, air gap performer intake, holley 750 mechanical secondaries, MSD 6A, MSD Timing control computer and headers. I am currently running a 3.08 rearend. Even with such a high rearend the car moves really strong, especially once I hit 3500 rpms. I have no prob spinning the tires off the line while power braking. I have in my garage a new set of 4.11 gears and 4 series carrier. My question is, how much of a difference will I notice from my 3.08s to the 4.11s. The motor puts out about 450 hp. Thanks for any input.

With the 4.11's you'll lose an average of 7mph for every 1000rpm's compared to the 3.08. For exmaple at 6000rpms with 3.08 you would be going at around 155mph and with 4.11's, 115mph! With 3.08 you're probably cruising at 60mph with 2400rpms and with 4.11's the same speed is 3200 rpms

Are you planning to use it on the drag strip a lot? If not don't bother you'll hate to take it on the freeways and you'll loose some serious topend speed.
Just my 2cents.

you'll need a overdrive tranny or stick with 75% in last gear to drive on the highway....RPM and gas mileage will be the reason.

as to your question of difference...night and day....off the line it would be a rocket. :yesnod:

Are you wanting to "spin" the tires without power braking ?
....4:11s will probably be so steep - you won't be able to keep the back tires from spinning each time you take off.
Your 0-60 sec. times will probably improve by 3/4 to a FULL second !
....of course hwy. driving will be very noisy with high RPMS.

Can you 'trade' your 4:11s for a 3:55 rearend ??? - you'll be happier & the car will be better 'balanced' for drag racing & hwy. driving ! :yesnod: :D

I don't ever drive the Corvette on the highway. I have a 99 Civic I do for all my hwy/long distance driving. The vette is purely a "racing" car.

Go 4.11. It will match the rest of your cars drivetrain.

:bs

I've been pulled over several times for that. I always say that in my defense to the cops, but they don't buy it. Normally the let me go, but I did get a "Drag racing on public highway" ticket last summer!

But anyway, the 4.11s should help out a lot. I installed them in my car about month ago. I should hit the track next Wed. with my new gears, electric fans and new Drag Radials. Hopefully LOW 12's (ran 12.6 with 3.36 rear, 235 street tires, and stock fan). I think I will get a 11.99 with tuning. Good luck on the rear change.
