ok here is the situation, i have a 1980 L48 manual tranny, it has a 130k miles on it, the tranny was rebuilt a few years ago, but they did a crappy job (2nd gear whines), the clutch has never been replaced. Last night i was beating on the car, the problem: i would engage the clutch and it would rev and then fall and then engage, the tranny was really loose and it felt like it was slipping. Then there was a constant whine while i was driving, in all the gears. this morngin there was a pool directly under the tranny of thick clear liquid. Am i looking at lots o' cash here. WHat should i look for and check. any help would be great.
ps before she gave me problems i smoked a camaro, and had an equal race with my friends 5.0 mustang, his has mods

Re: tranny problems (scorciae)
You need to explain your problem better, what is beating on the car mean? It sounds like you are having clutch or throwout bearing issues. A manual tranny will not slip, the clutch will or the throwout bearing can cause problems if not adjusted corretly. 130,000 miles is probably time for a clutch change. :chevy
by beating on it i mean that i was racing, doing some burnouts and just shifting at redline for like a half hour. this is what it does, when i go and release the clutch all the way the engine seems to wind up faster then car is accelerating, the after a few seconds the rpms fall a bit and the car becomes fully engaged. the clutch doesnt grab when i let it out, also this morning there was a pool of fluid underneath, could i have just blown a seal on the tranny...
So far it sounds like just your clutch. If second gear whines then adjust the linkage and see if that helps...the linkage may be forcing the lever against the shift cam, so shorten the 1/2 shift rod one turn.
