Aaah...your avatar said Boca, so I thought you were down the line from me. I'm originally form NY and used to scuba dive off LI and NJ with a guy from the Bronx. Do you still need to be tough to live in the So Bronx?

I just pulled the body off of my '78, two days ago. It has been a work in progress for some time. I ran low on time and motivation but have been kicking it up in high gear lately. It has been a learning experience but I am glad that I went ahead and decided to pull the body. I got to really see the condition of the car, ended up it was in much better shape than I thought. I am going for broke and replacing pretty much everything from shocks to engine and transmission. It really makes sense for me to pull the body because it is going to make the work easier and faster in the long run.

If you aren't really planning on going all the way, really no reason to pull the body. I didn't care about the down time for the car. If you don't want to miss drive time then don't do it.

Body is about 700 lbs, we used a chain hoist attached to the ceiling, I mostly removed it to be able to replace the floor pans. I bought a special strap from corvette America and didnt even use it, just straps we already had. These cars are nose heavy by the way. I spent almost as much time buiding dollys (with wheels) to support body while doing repairs. good luck
