Default Head Lights

Just finished restoring my 77 and having problems with the head lights. Low beams seems to be working properly, but when I switch on the high beams they intermitingly go off and on. They will stay on for 30 seconds and then go off for a few then come back on again.
Installed new front light harnes and new light swithch. Has anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions?

I would look at the dimmer switch.

isnt there a circuit breaker in the headlight switch? Check for good electrical connections or maybe bad switch.

I have the same problem. I have a '76, and the low beams do just fine, but when i switch to the highbeams it only takes about 15 seconds before they shut off entirely and intermittently come back on, then shut off.

The tail lights and license plate lights stay on, as do the instrument lamps. Just the headlights shut off. If i switch back to low beams they will shut off intermittently for a while also, but eventually get back to a constant beam.

I have not replaced the front wiring harness, but the light switch is new. Not the highbeam switch, but the headlight switch.

Sounds like we have the same problems, and could both benefit from the same answer!

How would we go about testing that switch?
