Here's some discussion on a similar question that might help you out.

To the right person, it could be worth thousands. For example, I sold a complete L78 originally from a 68 Camaro for $5000 that was in my buddies 66 Corvette. The Camaro guy was building a clone and delighted to have it. My buddy was able finish his 650 hp 516" bbc with the proceeds.

Another factor is the economy. The above deal took place in 2008. Not as many people are spending $$$ on their cars these days and the only way that engine will bring big bucks is to the proper audience which was already pretty small before the recession. I think it will sell, but you will probably be sitting on it for a while.

If the guy that owns the chassis is out there somewhere....his kids college funds and probably his wife's life insurance policy ;-)

Seriously, the best situation would be to find the chassis owner if they're still out there...

Having said that, if I had a dollar for every "LT-1", "L-88" or just plain "Corvette" engine I've been offered over the years...

Therefore it's worth next to nothing to most people.

I posted in the thread that qtlow linked because I have a '70 LT-1 CE engine sitting under my bench. It was in my '69 when I bougt it in 1979. The motor has about 20k miles on it, but in reality there's nothing special there. Every part can be replaced with better pieces these days, so why even bother with the old stuff..

its a used engine that is probably a very common casting number. it most likely needs rebuilt since it is at best 39 years old. If I bought it it would probably cost several hundred to ship to me. if I had a car that the date code lined up from this engine, it would still be NOM and stamped from another car and would not get me hardly any more money out of my car. or it could be decked and blank stamp pad and therefore I still would not get anything over NOM money for my car if I used it. these 2 examples are just lateral moves and why pay money for a lateral move?

finally if I bought it, rebuilt it, decked it, rebroached it and restamped it then why even choose this particular LT1?, I could do the same much cheaper by buying any other 350 block that was not a LT1 much cheaper.

sorry it is not worth any more that another used 350. maybe the heads/intake/exhaust are worth a little more though if they are there and correct, which usually is not the case..
