automatic to manual conversion.

the 6 litre LS and trans deal fell through so i'm now looking at doing a manual trans conversion kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CMG-17X-600-6-X/ and the one question i have is, do i have to put on a different trans yoke. i figure it has to be shortened but other than that it seems pretty straight forward. this will be going behind the GMPP 290BHP/326 FT LB crate motor. i will not be abusing the trans. no side stepping the clutch at 6k RPM's no drag racing, i just want a decent reliable daily driver and i'm going to work at it to get the best mileage i can when on my regular 1800 mile round trip jaunts from Columbia SC to Windsor CT.

I think that is the manual to manual conversion kit. I am wanting to do the same in mid November. I also think the Summit kit does not come with the driveshaft, check that out before you buy.

thank you very much! this will be a huge help for me. a question now. does anyone think that a T-5 would live behind a 290bhp, 326 FT LB motor? I have a T-5 from a 90's Trans Am, all it needs is a rebuild and i have the parts already. if not, i've been offered a good price for it.

very cool. i got the rebuild kit and the steel throwout bearing retainer a few years ago and it's just been sitting in my shop ever since. i knew i was holding on to the thing for a good reason.
