EGR switch

Parst shop said that there is a purple or a white swich for my 1980. I have the standard L48. I do not no what to buy.

I think you are referring to the Thermal Vacuum Switch which limits EGR until the engine gets warm. You may be better to post under that with the year. The difference (purple / white top) may only be thread size.

I had a look under the hood and found that it was purple # 373510 from GM.

Found out that the colours mean different temperatures.
