Default Blower motor replacement

HELP!!!!! I would like to upgrade the blower motor in my 82 CE. I did my homework and searched the threads here, bought a new fan and cage, and have the assembly book. Should be simple? How do you get to the motor without removing the evaporator and housing? I found a little room thru the side vents but not sure it's enough. Does anyone know of a thread explaining this or have ideas on how to get it out. Thanks for all ideas

I just upgraded my blower motor a couple of weeks ago up to the C-4 style blower motor. Unfortunitely I did not take any pictures. On my 77 with factory air I had to first removed the radiator overflow bottle and I also had to unclamp the metal A/C line that runs along the fender well. There are 5 bolts that hold the blower motor to the evaporator along with a ground wire and the power wire. You will have to turn the blower several ways to get it out but trust me it will come out. I bought a scrap piece of 3/4 in thick plywood at Home Depot and took the squirrel cage off of the new blower motor and laid the squirrel cage over the plywood and cut that hole with my jig saw. I then reattached the squirrel cage back on to the blower motor and laid it thru the hole in the plywood and traced the outline of the blower motor then cut it with my jigsaw. I then drilled all the holes and painted the spacer and got 1 and 1/2 inch long #10 shet metal bolts and applied black silicone to the spacer and bolted it on the evaporator and let it dry over nite. The next day i took the bolts off and bolted down the new blower motor. The C-4 blower motor has a different connector than your old motor. I purchased the new connector at my local O reillys store for I thing it was $7.99. I also bumped my ground wire up to a 10ga wire and used a new grounding point. I really noticed the increase in air flow. This is probably a long winde reply but you will not have any problems with the mod.
Here is a link of an old thread for the replacement.

Thanks. Did the motor come out thru the vent hole or out the bottom. I had read that thread but couldn't find it again. New here and first Vette so this forum and it's people help a lot.

I was able to remove my blower motor from the top side of the fender well . When you remove the radiator overflow bottle and loosen up the a/c line clamps on the fender well you can manuever the blower motor out. It just takes twisting and turning to remove.
