Default 1970 speedometer

Does the needle on the speedometer just pull off? I would like to clean it up and check the gears.

Thanks
Ron

Yep,

Just pulls off. Try to push needle hub up from underneath the boss as evenly as you can. Avoid touching the needle arms. It takes quite a bit of force.

It's supposed to, but mine didn't. The axle eventually broke.
I don't know if somebody was in there before and glued it on.

The worst part is that the new replacement speedometer sticks around 50-60 mph

Thanks for the replies jyounane, Danish Shark, and Easy Mike. I thought the needle pulled off but wanted to make sure. Mine is being a little stubborn. I'll try to get it off tomorrow so I can get the face plate out of the way. The Forum is always a great place to get the answer your looking for.

Thanks again Guys
