Default gauge help please

I could use some help. I would like to try a figure out how to get the following gauges working; Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp.

one of the cars previous owners changed out the engine with a '50s era 283 and i would like to try to get the gauges working. i was told this wasn't possible due to the engine swap... any thoughts?

Hi sc,
FIRST POST!!!! Welcome!
It would help you get some replies if you posted what model year your car is.
How the gauges were operated changed over the years and therefore the sending units required in the engine did too.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Default gauges

It is a 1981, doing more research I discovered that all three of the sending units are missing since the engine swap. It looks like there is a place for the Oil Temp senser next to the oil filter and the wire for the gauge is hanging about there.

Oil Pressure. The 283 block has a mechanical oil sending system...... is it possible to put in an electric oil pressure sending unit?

283 is a SBC like 350.
Yes, get 81 oil pressure sending unit which is electric & stock 81 goes in near dist. driver side. It can be mounted near the oil filter. Coolant Temp. sensor goes on intake front or in head between #1 & #3 cylinders.
